More Than a Meeting: Becoming a Missions Community
What if church was never meant to end when the meeting ends?
What if gathering together was only the beginning?
At One Heart Ministries, we believe God is calling us to build something deeper than a weekly event. We want to become a missions community—a family of believers who gather around the presence of Jesus, grow to become more like Him, are equipped for the work of ministry, and then go into the world carrying the Gospel.
Our vision can be expressed simply:
Seek Jesus. Become Like Jesus. Be Equipped. Be Sent.
We Seek Jesus
Everything begins with Jesus.
Before ministry, evangelism, missions, preaching or serving, there must be relationship with Him. Jesus called His disciples first to be with Him, and then He sent them out to preach and minister (Mark 3:14). That order matters.
At One Heart, we want to create a community where people can genuinely encounter God through worship, prayer, the Word and the presence of the Holy Spirit.
We don't want to rush through worship so we can get to the "next part" of a meeting. We want to make room to seek Jesus together. Because missions without His presence becomes activity. But when people encounter Jesus, everything changes.
We Become Like Jesus
Following Jesus isn't simply about learning more information about Him.
It's about becoming like Him. Jesus demonstrated what life in the Kingdom of God looks like. He loved people others ignored. He preached the Gospel. He healed the sick. He served. He prayed. He discipled people. He was moved with compassion.
Our goal is not simply to create people who attend meetings.
We want to develop disciples. People whose character, compassion, faith and actions increasingly look like Jesus. As we spend time with Him, allow the Holy Spirit to transform us and walk in obedience to His Word, our lives should begin to reflect Him to the people around us.
We Get Equipped
Every believer has a part to play in the mission of God. Ephesians 4 teaches that ministry gifts are given to equip God's people for works of service. That means ministry was never supposed to belong to a small group of people standing on a platform.
The Church is meant to be equipped.
At One Heart, we want to provide practical training that helps ordinary believers confidently live on mission. That includes learning how to share the Gospel, pray for people, hear God's voice, minister in the power of the Holy Spirit, disciple new believers, serve communities and take the love of Jesus beyond the walls of a church building.
We want people to move from:
"I don't know if God can use me."
to:
"Here I am, Lord. Send me."
We Are Sent
A missions community cannot only gather.
Eventually, we must go.
Jesus said:
"Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation." — Mark 16:15
For some people, "go" may mean walking across the street.
For others, it may mean going into schools, communities, hospitals, businesses or disadvantaged areas.
For others, it may eventually mean crossing borders and taking the Gospel into other nations of Africa and beyond.
The location may change.
The mission doesn't.
We want One Heart to become a community where people are continually gathered, transformed, equipped and sent.
A Community With a Mission
Imagine a community where people gather because they are hungry for Jesus.
Worship isn't a performance.
Prayer isn't a formality.
Training isn't just theory.
And evangelism isn't something reserved for a special outreach once a year.
People encounter Jesus, grow together, discover their calling, receive practical training and then go out together to serve and reach others.
Some will evangelise.
Some will pray.
Some will disciple.
Some will serve.
Some will lead.
Some will give.
Some will go to the nations.
But everyone can have a part in the mission.
That's the kind of community we want to build.
From the Gathering to the Mission Field
Our gatherings are important—but they are not the destination.
They are the sending place.
We gather to worship.
We gather to seek Jesus.
We gather to receive from the Holy Spirit.
We gather to build relationships.
We gather to be equipped.
And then…
we go.
Into our workplaces.
Into our neighbourhoods.
Into our communities.
Into the streets.
Into the nations.
Wherever Jesus sends us.
There's a Place for You
You don't need to be a pastor, missionary or evangelist to live on mission.
You simply need to be willing to follow Jesus.
Whether you're new to faith, hungry to grow spiritually, passionate about evangelism, interested in missions, or simply looking for a community where you can pursue Jesus with others, there is a place for you.
Come worship with us.
Come pray with us.
Come learn with us.
Come serve with us.
Come reach people with us.
And when God says go, let's be a community that's ready to say:
